Our Beaches & rocky shores, mud flats and sand dune systems are hives of activity and full of life just waiting to be discovered from the miniature insects to impressive nippy crabs, the diverse forest of algae to the incredible rock formations and magical pebbles shaped by the waves.

The intertidal zone is a complicated and delicate balance for all wildlife that makes it their home. So come learn about your secret neighbours and see how we can support them.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN ABOUT?​

  • Seaweed

  • Shellfish

  • Little fishes

  • Snails

  • Crabs

  • Starfish

  • Fish Eggs

  • ...and many more!

WHAT DO I NEED?

  • Sturdy footwear you don't mind getting wet (Wellies highly recommended)

  • Clothing appropriate for weather conditions

  • Bottle of water

  • Camera

  • Gloves if you want to protect your hands from sharp rocks and barnacles.

  • Any medication you may require

  • All under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Enthusiasm to learn

DISCLAIMER: The low tide shoreline can be very rocky, awkward and slippery underfoot and all participants agree to take responsibility for their own safety. T4X staff will however be present with a basic first aid kit and support anyone who may injure themselves.
